The Art of Fly Fishing with Annie Margarita and Bert de Klerk Aug. 20-24, 2018
“How to combine a fly fishing trip with a vacation that my non-angling significant other can also enjoy?”
That is a question that we asked ourselves when putting together our Retreat for the Arts. We appreciate the challenge that many anglers face when a vacation is being planned and fishing is only desired by one. We’ve solved this puzzle by offering unique classes for one spouse and exciting fly fishing for the other. It’s your dilemma to choose who gets which!
Day 1 Arrival at the McKenzie River Inn
Couples are met by McKenzie River Inn staff at the Resort. Guests will be checked in and escorted to their cabins. An evening orientation meeting will be held in the lodge and trip itineraries and course introduction will be conducted. Welcome dinner served.
Day 2 Fly Fishing for One and Painting for the Other Gather together for a delicious breakfast after which we part ways. Your better half goes off to fish in a historic McKenzie Drift boat, while you get oil painting lessons at the workshop. Bring your camera, we cruise the forest and river for great shots and quick sketches. Gourmet lunch is served both on the river and picnic in the woods. After a challenging fishing day, a tired but happy angler returns to enjoy dinner with their significant other. Later enjoy a bonfire together by the river.
Day 3 and 4 Fly Fishing for One and Painting for the Other Gather for breakfast and make plans for the day. More great fishing and improve your skills painting the McKenzie Valley flora. We have another great lunch and then meet up back at the inn for a wonderful dinner. Bonfire by the river.
Day 5 Departure During breakfast we evaluate the course and your experience with instructors and staff before everyone pack up their belongings from the cabins and goes their way.
This retreat includes 4 nights lodging, and all meals for 2 people, plus one painting course for one person and 3 full days of drift boat fishing for one person!
