WORKSHOP DESCRIPTIONS

Beginners Class In this 1 day class we will go over the Basics such as Swivel knife use & how to use the other tools. How to stabilize leather & how to case leather and why. We will layout carve and tool a simple pattern to learn on. After lunch we will learn how to use dyes to color your work & how to create a Natural looking effect. Of course I will be Very willing to answer all your questions,,, even some you don’t ask! This is a great class to take before the other classes to help bring you up to speed. You'll find my classes are always fun, yet very informative! I'm happy to share information, answer your questions without judgement, and help in any way I can. For this class I will be bringing a few basic tools to learn with.

Round Trinket Box In this 2 day class we will Tool, Sculpt & Assemble the Round Trinket Box. As with all of my classes we will cover the "Basics" including my "Tips & Tricks", to help you with this & all future projects. The first day will be filled with Layout, Tooling, Sculpting, Initial assembly preparation & possibly start on coloring using my "Nature Colors" process.

The second day starts with coloring using My "Bear Dyes" and Angelus Dyes. My "Bear Dyes" are much more user friendly than any other dyes on the market. After coloring & finishing we will size, skive & layout for hand stitching. Both regular Saddle Stitching & Cross corner. I will show you how to create a uniform & attractive stitch. Once we complete the stitching, I’ll show you how to size & install the top inner panel so the top will fit nicely. When finished You will go home with a piece of Useful Art that you can use & be proud of!

Inverted BEAR Picture You will be Tooling & Sculpting a Standing Bear surrounded one day tooling project.

  • You will be Tooling & Sculpting a Standing Bear surrounded by Oak leaves. On day 1 I'll show you which objects to carve in the Inverted style & which to Tool & sculpt normally using my "Realistic Leaves" process. On day 2 we will apply color with my "Bear Dyes" and Angelus dyes using my "Nature Colors" coloring process to achieve a realistic effect. Once completed you will have a stunning piece of Bear Art to frame or you could use to complete a medium size note book. You'll find my classes are always fun, yet very informative! I'm happy to share information, answer your questions without judgement, and help in any way I can. Tools to bring if you have: Maul or Mallet, (Sharp) swivel knife, Stylus, Assorted smooth Pear shaders/Thumb prints, assorted smooth bevelers, favorite background tool (other than Bargrounders.. Not Allowed!!), smooth matting tool, Hand style petal lifters, Brushes 1/4" Flat or Filbert & medium size Pointed brush. And MOST importantly,,, a Fun Attitude Ready to Learn!

 

This Retreat includes:  4 nights in a McKenzie River Inn cabin, 4 breakfasts, 4 lunches, 4 dinners, all classes with Ed Labarre.

Single student price:  $1700.;    Two students sharing cabin:  $2600. ($1300 each person) or  One student sharing with partner not taking class $2,000.
