Art of Fly Fishing with Diane Michelin – June 24 – 28, 2019

We welcome back international award winning artist Diane Michelin as she teaches her techniques in watercolor, and joins with you to fly fish the McKenzie River, hiking and wine touring.  Diane is a part of the International Watercolor Art Society and her work has been selected by international jury for several global exhibitions, including the Shenzhen International Watercolor Biennial in China 2015, Madrid Spain and Indonesia!  She has been featured in Fly Fusion magazine since 2006.  Diane was the Trout Unlimited Canada 2009 Artist of the Year.  She resides in Nanoose Bay on Vancouver Island, British Colombia, Canada.

Monday:  Diane Michelin welcomes Students into the workshop to learn the basics of watercolor paintings. Diane teaches 9am to Noon, a break for a gourmet lunch, then more painting between 1pm and 3pm.  Students learn how to use brushes, glaze, use perspective with tone, values, and how to sketch from reference photos, use depth of field, foreground, middle ground and background, transparency and the rule of three.  Picnic lunch is served on location, weather permitting. Students then join Diane for fishing and hiking excursions in the valley.  Gourmet dinner at the Inn with all guests.

Tuesday: Delicious breakfast at the Inn, then Diane teaches Students how to expand upon painting in the studio, finishing one or more paintings.  Diane continues teaching in the workshop and it’s private gardens.  Diane teaches 9am to Noon, a break for a gourmet lunch, then more painting between 1pm and 3pm. iPads are a valuable tool for working from photos, or prints can be made on the inn printer for use in the studio.  Lunch is served in the studio garden. Students then go on more excursions with Diane.  Gourmet dinner at the Inn with all guests.

Wednesday: Another fabulous breakfast at the Inn, then Diane gives more one on one attention to each student as they develop their paintings, finishing one or more paintings.  Diane continues teaching in the workshop and it’s private gardens.  Class is from 9am to Noon, a break for a gourmet lunch, then more painting between 1pm and 3pm.  Lunch is served in the studio garden. Students then go on more excursions with Diane.  Gourmet dinner at the Inn with all guests.

Thursday: A gourmet breakfast at the Inn, then Diane gives more one on one attention to each student as they develop their paintings, finishing one or more paintings.  Diane continues teaching in the workshop and it’s private gardens.  Class is from 9am to Noon, a break for a gourmet lunch, then more painting between 1pm and 3pm.  Lunch is served in the studio garden. Students then go on more excursions with Diane.  Gourmet dinner at the Inn with all guests.

Friday: This morning after breakfast, review and critique of paintings.  Departure.

The Art of Fly Fishing with Diane Michelin Workshop is a 4 day/ 4 nights workshop $1,895. per person.

Students will also be provided with a tool list to bring to the workshop via email after signup.  There will be fly fishing, hiking, sightseeing excursions all included.  A wine tasting tour will also be offered for a minimal charge for transportation.
